The genesis of Barakat dates to 1976 with our humble beginnings in the trade of fresh vegetables and fruits. With decades of experience in sustaining the vibrant international sourcing network for fruits and vegetables of the highest quality standards from the best farms all around the world, we strive to be the most trusted source of healthy food in the UAE

We are a strategic supplier of fresh produce to 5-star hotels, leading supermarket chains, major airline catering companies, prominent families, and other premium entities. We value our longstanding and excellent relations with most hospitality and retail sector partners in the UAE and ensure the varied needs of each customer are consistently met. After establishing the edge on fresh fruits & vegetables, Barakat has ventured into value-added fruits & vegetables, with the manufacturing unit for cut fruits & vegetables and fresh juices to provide value by saving time and cost for Hospitality and Catering customers

Timeline

1976 – 1987

In 1976, Barakat started operations in the Hamriya market, Dubai

1988 – 1990

Barakat Vegetables & Fruits Co became the first company in UAE to use refrigerated trucks for distribution of fresh produce

1991 – 1993

In 1991, for the first time in UAE, button mushrooms were locally grown in Al Ain. Barakat Vegetables & Fruits Co was appointed as the sole distributor of these mushrooms for the entire region

2000 – 2002

Barakat Quality Plus was established in 2001 as an extended kitchen to the growing HORECA industry, providing freshly squeezed juices and cut, sanitized, ready-to-cook/serve vegetables and fruits. A fully temperature-controlled, and state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 2

2003 – 2005

Barakat Vegetables & Fruits Co became the first fresh fruits and vegetables company to receive the HACCP certification in UAE

2006 – 2014

Barakat Quality Plus received HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, accreditation

2015 – 2017

Barakat Vegetables and Fruits Co inaugurated a new state-of-the-art 80,000 square foot storage, ripening and distribution facility in Nad Al Hamar, Dubai

2018

In 2018, Barakat Quality Plus was awarded “Fresh Juice Company of the Year” by Frost & Sullivan

2019 – 2021

Barakat recognized in “World’s Greatest Brands 2018-19” in the fifth edition of World’s Greatest Brands & Leaders 2018-19 by AsiaOne

“Superbrand” status following a strict selection process by the UAE Superbrands Council
